First Annual SoccerFiesta

On Saturday morning in early November ASA hosted our first ever SoccerFiesta Community Day at William Ramsay. SoccerFiesta was the culmination of a fun fall season of After School Soccer.

ASA received grant funding from INOVA via their Health Equity grant to expand capacity of the After School League at Ramsay in the Fall of 2024. Each week in addition to playing soccer we incorporated social emotional wellness components with support from Little Friends for Peace and plyometrics activities from D1 Training. These additions offered a well-rounded hour of activity and fun for 3rd – 5th graders each week.

We invited the entire school (grades K – 5th) to attend the SoccerFiesta, allowing all families to join in on the fun! Wonderful community organizations and partners joined us to share their services with families and kids. Students and siblings played soccer, visited the booths, danced to music and took home a hot meal!

ASA has been hosting programming for Ramsay students for almost a decade and we are energized by the amazing support from the school and community. Thank you to INOVA for their support and to Clark Construction for sponsoring soccer balls this season. Each After School League participant received a free soccer ball and a soccer jersey at the beginning of the season. Kids wore their jersey every week and were excited to tell our coaches about playing in their backyards and parks with family members.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, we’re looking forward to building on this event and bringing it back in future years! #ASACommunity
